We wanted to share a few ideas for events, camps and outings that may help you fill the coming weeks ahead. SUMMER CAMPS ACE Aerospace Camp Experience at the Museum of Flight Aerospace Camp Experience (ACE) is an American Camp Association accredited and award-winning day camp for any child who is excited about scientific pursuits. Check here for the list of camps STEAM Powered Summer Camp at Soundview School Summer programs are designed to be hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that engage students in exploration, discovery, and innovation. The summer program extends learning beyond the school year. It keeps children engaged in creative, cooperative, and innovative thinking as they make art, explore nature, and take on science. Programs are set up as week-long units of inquiry into diverse concepts with regular field trips to connect learning with real, relevant experience. Open to students from the ages of 3 to 13. UW Robinson Center for Young Scholars This is a great option for older students. The Robinson Center’s Summer Program provides an intensive, inspirational and in-depth learning experience for students who are ready and prepared to take on the challenge. We offer a rich variety of math, science, literature, philosophy, and writing classes. Class size is small, with a faculty who are experienced teachers and specialists in their fields. Summer Challenge, for current 5th-6th graders, emphasizes hands-on learning, field trips and activities Summer Stretch, for current 7th-10th graders, is more academic in nature, providing an accelerated, rigorous learning experience. Both programs are characterized by high-level thinking, intellectual adventure, and pursuit of understanding. Learn more here WSU Academic Outreach and Innovation Summer Reading Program Offered at several locations in the greater Seattle area WSU offers summer reading programs for children and adults aimed at increasing skills, building confidence and teaching the lifelong benefits of reading. Seattle Astronomical Society Seattle Astronomical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of amateur astronomy for the benefit of its members and the general public. Events include monthly Star Parties! Star parties are held at Green Lake and Paramount Park and are free and open to the public. People of all ages and background, including children, are welcome. These events offer to all the opportunity for telescopic viewing of sky objects as well as educational interaction of experienced, knowledgeable astronomers with each other and with participants who may have limited or minimal understanding of astronomy. Maplewood Rock and Gem Club Located in Edmonds, the Maplewood Rock and Gen Club encourages the exploration of lapidary arts and appreciation of the earth sciences of geology, fossils, minerals, and gem stones.
