Starting in January of this year, I started tuning into more podcasts on my iphone. The news wasn't fulfilling and I wanted to keep learning. (If you are new to podcasts and want to learn how to listen to them click here.) Here's some of my favorites about parenting my kids:
1) Quiet: The Power of Introverts with Susan Cain Based on her book about introverts, this podcast really takes you into how we can better see our kids through a different lens. Many gifted children are introverted and it was helpful to see this personality type as a strength. 2) TILT Parenting: Atypical |2E |Gifted |ADHD |SPDC |Asperger's As the name implies this podcast is for parents raising "differently-wired" or neurologically atypical kids. When I was listening to this podcast I really felt like someone understood that some kids are different or struggle in their own quirky ways and that's ok. I learned how to parent better to help my kids thrive. This podcast also comes from her neurologically atypical son, too. It was fascinating to hear his perspective! 3) Gifted Education Podcast - The Prufrock Press Blog This podcast gives a great snapshot of the different learning opportunities for gifted students such as homeschooling, online learning, accelerated classes, etc. There only three podcasts but they also speak to the pros of ability grouping and differentiated learning techniques. 4) Peace Out - Relaxation and mindfulness stories for kids I'm not an advocate for devices before bedtime but these short, guided imagination-meditations have really helped to calm my kids busy minds at the end of the day. Learning these techniques is a life skill. Do you have some podcasts that you like? Please comment below and let us know about them!
